Wondering why are your TikTok Videos Not Getting Views? Here is how to check if your videos are actually bad or you just need to stand out more.
There are a couple of reasons why your TikTok videos are not getting views. The first reason is simple, but painful. Your videos might not be interesting enough, clear enough, or good enough. The second reason is that the market you are trying to enter is so oversaturated that you cannot compete by doing the same thing as everyone else.
If the second option is true, I have the answer right away. The solution is not to compete. The solution is to dominate.
That means massive action, dedication, time, energy and consistency. If your TikTok account is promoting your business, that effort is worth it when you do it properly. What you do not want is to end up like so many creators who have huge follower numbers, lots of views, and still make no money. You would be surprised how many creators live like this. I wrote an entire blog on this called How much money do Tiktok creators really make? you can read it here.
Big numbers look nice. They feed the ego. They make you feel like something is happening. But if those views do not build your brand, bring the right people in, or help your business make money, then what are they actually doing?
Why Your TikTok Videos Might Be Bad
The first option is the one I can help you with. If your videos are bad, the first thing you need to do is accept that they are bad. That sounds harsh, but it is necessary. You cannot improve content you refuse to look at honestly.
The TikTok algorithm is actually smart. In my experience, it is much better than YouTube at understanding when people are interested in a video. YouTube often keeps showing videos to the wrong audience, which is one of the reasons it is so difficult to grow there. I have seen way too many incredible, well-filmed, well-edited and genuinely interesting YouTube videos stuck at 100 to 1,000 views.
TikTok is different. If your video gets 200 views, the video sucks.
There is no way a really good piece of content should only get 200 views on TikTok. That may not mean the idea is bad. It may not mean your message is bad. It might just mean the way you packaged the video is not good enough.
But if you cannot accept that your videos might suck, do not bother continuing with this blog or with TikTok. You will just keep blaming the algorithm, the platform, shadowbans, timing, hashtags, or whatever else is easier to blame than the actual video.
I know people so stubborn and self-centred, they posted 400 videos and every single video got 250 views. So after they posted 10 videos and got 250 views, they refused to change ANYTHING. I gave them so many ideas, they refused to do any of it by saying “if I just keep posting videos consistently, one day I will go viral”. Guess what? It has been 3 years and they still get 250 views on every video. Please, learn from this…
How To Know If Your TikTok Video Is Bad
Look at your last 10 TikTok videos. Do not look at them emotionally. Look at the data.
- How many likes did each video get?
- How many comments did each video get?
- What was the watch time percentage?
- How many people shared the video?
Be honest! Were the comments from strangers, or were they from friends and family trying to be nice?
If your video got one comment and it was from someone you know, 10 to 20 likes from mostly people you know, no shares, and an average watch time of one to three seconds, then yes, the video is not good.
Again, it does not always mean the content idea is bad. It might be the packaging. Your hook might not be strong enough. People might not understand what the video is about quickly enough. The message might not be clear in the first two seconds.
The viewer immediately scrolls if:
- they don’t understand what is happening in under 3 seconds
- the audio is bad
- the lighting is horrible
- the video looks confusing, boring, too slow, too salesy, or unclear
You see where I am going with this? TikTok is brutal because people decide very quickly whether your video deserves their attention.
What If Your TikTok Video Gets Good Engagement But Still Low Views?
There is another situation. Maybe your video only got a few hundred views, but it got 50 likes, shares, and comments from strangers praising the video.
In that case, you are probably doing something right. The problem might not be that the video is terrible. The problem might be that TikTok does not trust you enough yet to put your video in front of more people.
Why would that happen?
Maybe you only post once a week/once a month and then disappear.
TikTok wants to see you using TikTok. That means posting consistently, going live, commenting on other videos, trying different formats, and using platform features like green screen, stitches, replies, trends, effects and whatever else makes sense for your niche.
Your video might also be too niche to get massive numbers, but 250 views still should not be your normal result if the content is genuinely working.
You Are Not Shadowbanned, You Are Trapped
Most people are not shadowbanned. They are trapped.
They are trapped in weak hooks, unclear topics, inconsistent posting, bad packaging, boring edits, poor audio, bad lighting, and content that does not give TikTok enough reasons to push it further.
So change it up:
- Change the first scene
- Try a different hook
- Start with a stronger sentence
- Make the message clearer
Ask yourself: Can people understand what this video is about in the first two seconds?
- Who is the audience?
- Am I talking to Gen Z or millennials?
- Does my audience actually like super fast edits, or would they prefer something slower and clearer?
- Am I selling too much?
- Am I promoting too much instead of bringing value?
That last one is a huge mistake I see all the time.
The Problem With Selling Too Much On TikTok
I follow a musician who is clearly trying hard, but his numbers are stalling badly despite having over 100,000 followers. The issue is not that he is lazy. The issue is that his content feels outdated.
Instead of being creative with how he announces a new single, he simply announces it like a radio broadcast. It looks like an advert from the 90s. His core fans will probably watch it, like it and maybe share it, but that style gives him almost no chance to impress a new audience.
That is the problem. If your content only speaks to people who already care about you, you are not growing. TikTok is not just about telling people what you are selling. It is about making strangers care enough to stop, watch, remember you, and come back.
What I would do btw, I would take my phone, go to the streets and play my new song to strangers and recorded their reaction. I would not say it’s my song, I would just ask them “I’m a record label owner and I don’t know whether I should sign this artist, what do you think, is he any good?” Create a social proof funny playful edit and boom a hit!!!!!

Branding Works Better Than Selling On TikTok
Numbers are cool. Views are proof that people find your content interesting enough to watch. But you also need to be very clear about what you are trying to do with your TikTok.
Are you trying to build a brand? Are you just trying to sell something? Ideally, you want both. But branding works better than direct selling on TikTok. Funny enough, you often sell more when you are not trying so hard to sell.
People do not go on TikTok hoping to be attacked by your sales pitch. They go there to be entertained, informed, surprised, validated, educated, or distracted from their own life for a few minutes. If you can build a brand around that, selling becomes much easier.
Why Millions Of TikTok Views Might Not Make You Money
Having big numbers does not necessarily mean you will make sales. I recently turned down a potential client because their only goal was to get views. They wanted millions of views.
I told them, “But your business is not doing well. You need to convert those people. You need to make videos that have lower views but are very local and very niche. You will not get millions of views, but you might get 10,000 views from people who could actually buy what you sell.” They still said they wanted millions of views and now they’re one step away from the bankruptcy.
I have had many viral videos on TikTok, so let me tell you something clearly. A million random views from the other side of the planet will not convert if you only sell locally. Yes, it is an ego boost to say you got millions of views on Instagram or TikTok. But what is the point if your business is still out of business?
The Business That Ignored TikTok And Went Under
I have seen the downfall of a company that had been on the market for over 30 years. Five years ago, I tried to convince them to create a TikTok account and start posting content. They said, “We do not need it.” I kept insisting. I told them that anyone who is not actively creating content will eventually fall behind. They were not active on social media at all.
Now it is 2026 and they are out of business. And they act surprised. Do not make the same mistake.
How To Improve Your TikTok Videos
If your TikTok videos are not getting views, start by looking at your last 10 videos and analysing the data properly.
Check the likes, comments, watch time, shares and saves. Then watch the first three seconds of each video. Can you understand what the video is about immediately? Would a complete stranger know why they should keep watching?
- Is the hook clear?
- Is the lighting good?
- Is the audio good?
- Is the message easy to understand?
- Is the video interesting, creative, and relevant to the person you want to reach?
- You also need to understand what you are trying to do with your TikTok account.
- Are you building a brand?
- Are you trying to sell?
- Who is the perfect viewer of that video?
- Is that viewer also a potential buyer?
Once you know that, your content becomes much easier to shape.
Work On Better Hooks
A weak hook can destroy a good idea. You might have useful information, a great story, a clever message, or a valuable offer, but if the first two seconds are boring or unclear, people will not stay long enough to find out.
Your hook should make the viewer instantly understand why the video matters to them. It should be clear, specific and interesting. Not vague, slow, overly polished to the point where it feels fake. Not a long intro where you take 20 seconds to get to the point.
TikTok is not the place for “Hi guys, welcome back to my channel.” People are gone before you finish the sentence.
Better TikTok Content Starts With Better Packaging
If your TikTok videos are not getting views, do not automatically assume your idea is bad. Sometimes the problem is the packaging. The same message can fail or succeed depending on how you present it. You can take the same topic and make it boring, confusing, too slow, too salesy, too vague, or too generic.
You can also take that same topic and make it sharp, clear, funny, useful, emotional, specific, or surprising. That is the difference. The idea matters, but the packaging decides whether people stop scrolling.

Final Checklist: Why Your TikTok Videos Are Not Getting Views
To summarise, here is what you need to do:
- Look at your last 10 TikTok videos and analyse the data.
- Check the likes, comments, shares, saves and watch time.
- Play the first three seconds of each video and ask if the topic is clear.
- Understand what you are trying to do with your TikTok account.

- Make sure your lighting and audio are good.
- Stop selling all the time and start building a brand.
- Present your message in a creative, interesting and clear way.
TikTok is not magic. If your videos are stuck at 200 views, something is wrong. It might be the hook. It might be the message. It might be the packaging. It might be your consistency. It might be that you are trying to sell before anyone cares who you are.
But the good news is that all of those things can be fixed. You just have to stop blaming the algorithm long enough to look at the content honestly.
